Có rất nhiều loại giày dành cho những chuyến đi Adventure. Để có một lựa chọn đúng đắn cho mình quả không phải là đơn giản, nhất là ở Việt Nam, không có sẵn để người chơi xe có thể lựa chọn, thử giày trước khi mua.

Tôi đưa ra một số tiêu chuẩn cá nhân để chọn chiếc giày phù hợp cho nhu cầu của mình:

– Tầm giá tiền dưới $200.

– Loại giày có chiều cao cổ trung bình, cổ giày chắc chắn để chống gãy dập mắt cá chân nếu có va chạm

– Giày không dùng dây buộc giày truyền thống, cơ chế thao tác nhanh gọn

– Giày phải chống nước / không bị thấm nước

– Đế giày phải là loại có độ bám cao.

– Về cơ bản phải là đôi giày có thể vừa chạy xe mà vừa có thể dùng để đi bộ một cách thoải mái trong lúc dừng xe.

There are many kinds of adventure boots for motorcycle. It’s not easy at all to have a right choice of boots in Vietnam, as there is almost none of them available for me to try before purchasing.

I have some personal criteria to identify my best fit adventure boots:

– Budget capped at $200

– It’s not full length boots but not very low. The boots should high enough and strong enough to protect my ankles in case of crash

– No regular bootlace, preferred buckle type for quick response

– Waterproof is the must

– Good friction of the sole

– The boots are good for motorcycle riding and also comfortable to walk around when stop riding

Vẫn theo những tiêu chí lựa chọn như trên đồng thời khắc phục một số nhược điểm gặp phải ở Icon Patrol, người bạn mới lần này là Forma Adventure-Low.

With the same criteria set plus some improvement from disadvantage of Icon Patrol boots, my choice this time is Forma Adventure-Low.

Forma là một thương hiệu giày motor của Italy, tập trung và nổi tiếng ở những loại giày cho cào cào và Adventure. Forma Adventure có 2 loại là cao cổ và thấp cổ. Adventure Low là loại giày thấp cổ – thực ra là cổ lửng chứ cũng không hẳn là thấp.

Forma is an Italian brand, famous of Motocross and Adventure boots. There are two type in Adventure series of Forma, one is full length boots, and the other is medium ones.

Nhìn qua bề ngoài của Forma Adventure Low thấy có nhiều điểm tương đồng với Icon Patrol: phần lớn phía ngoài là da thuộc nổi bật, đường chỉ may đôi khá giống nhau, cơ cấu khóa giày đều giống với giày cào cào…

After a quick glance at both Forma and Icon boots, I found some similar points among them, i.e. same leather color and percentage of leather, double stitches, motocross locking strap/buckles…

Thiết kế của Forma Adventure Low nhìn rất bắt mắt và chắc chắn, kiểu da thuộc này làm cho đôi giày nhìn khá ngầu, có hơi hướng giày cao bồi 🙂 . Vị trí mắt cá chân được dập lồi ra tạo không gian và cảm giác khá thoải mái phía bên trong

Build of Forma Adventure Low is pretty solid and eye catching. Leather color made the boots look “badass”, kinda like the way of cowboy boots. Right at the ankles, the leather is pushed out to make a comfortable room for ankles.

 Khóa nhựa của Forma nhìn khá mỏng và đơn giản. Tiếng khóa khi cài rất êm, nghe không đã như của giày cào cào hoặc Icon Patrol. Độ bền còn phải chờ thời gian trả lời.

Forma buckles look thin and simple. It is pretty quiet when push locking the buckles, unlike other motocross boots or Icon Patrol. I like the “krraaap” sound better. Let’s see how long it last.

Phần kia của khóa là một đoạn dây nhựa mềm, khá mỏng, được may vào dưới lớp da bên ngoài – nhìn cũng hơi “phiêu”, chưa biết tuổi thọ ra sao. Cái này mà bị rách hay đứt thì bó tay không biết thay hay sửa thế nào.

The other end of the locking strap is a soft and thin plastic part, stitched under the outer leather – I am not sure how good it is. If broken, I have no idea how to replace or repair.

Chiều cao của Forma Adventure Low là 25.5cm, cao hơn Icon Patrol hơn 4cm. Chiều cao này khá phù hợp với nhu cầu của mình. Đã thử chạy xe khá nhanh qua vũng nước thì không bị nước chui vào giày như Icon Patrol.

Adventure Low is 10in height, taller than Icon Patrol almost 2inches. This is my preferred length. I have tried riding my GS quite fast over a water splash and found no water ingress into the boots as experienced with Icon Patrol.

Phía trên mu giày, Forma có một lớp nhựa hay cao su gì đó khá cứng và rộng, để giảm tác động của cần số lên giày và chân. Có lẽ vì thẩm mỹ nên làm cả 2 bên giày đều giống nhau, trong khi cần số chỉ có 1 bên. Hehe.

Forma has the rubber/plastic pad to protect the boots and the foot from the impact of the gear lever. Probably just to make it nice so they put it on both side of the boots while the gear lever is on just one side 🙂

Có thể nhận thấy Icon Patrol để lộ đường may giữa phần thân trên và đế của giày. Còn Forma thì bọc kín đường may này bằng một lớp cao su mềm. Thấy một vài trường hợp ở nước ngoài phải bảo hành vì bị bong lớp cao su này. Lạy dzời…

You can notice that Icon Patrol boots show the stitches between leather and the soles. No stitches found on the soles of the Forma boots. They are covered by a rubber layer. I know some cases in the US that the owner claimed for warranty due to toe caps to be separated from boots, hope it will not happen to me.

Phần đế của Forma dày hơn và có vẻ bám đường tốt hơn Icon Patrol / Forma soles are thicker and looked more traction than Icon Patrol’s.

So sánh 2 đôi giày cùng cỡ 43: Khối lượng của Forma Adventure Low là 1.8kg. Của Icon Patrol là 1.83kg, cơ bản là ngang nhau, trong khi Icon Patrol thấp hơn 4cm.

Compare two pairs of size 43 boots: Forma Adventure Low boots weight 1.8kg, while the Icon Patrol almost 2inches lower and weight 1.83kg.

Sau hơn 500km sử dụng, chưa đủ để đánh giá một cách toàn diện, nhưng có thể nhận thấy Forma Adventure Low khá thoải mái, ngón chân và mắt cá thoải mái hơn Icon Patrol, đế cao hơn chút nên chống chân thấy thoải mái hơn, đi bộ hoặc vào số, đạp phanh cũng thấy mềm mại, rất thoải mái. Mới chạy trong mưa tầm 2 tiếng liên tục, không thấy thấm vào trong giày. Nghe nhiều người nói khả năng chống nước của Forma Adventure không thực sự tốt. Chờ một thời gian nữa xem sao.

Ebay (Mỹ) bán hơn 200usd. Châu Âu (UK hay Italy) bán dưới 180usd.

After 500km riding, nothing much I would say but quite comfortable, especially at the toes and ankle areas, thicker soles made me more comfort standing on the bike. I just experienced almost 2 hours continuously riding in the rain, no water ingress so far, let’s see how it goes for longer rain exposure.

You can find Forma Adventure Low on Ebay (US) for 200usd plus, or in EU (UK or Italy) for less than 180usd.
